Pommeau is Normandy’s answer to Pineau des Charentes – or perhaps it should be the other way round! A lovely sweet pure-apple aperitif or pudding wine. The delicious cider comes in traditional looking ‘champagne’ bottles and is a completely different drink to the mass produced ciders which are currently so popular. The ‘Blanche de Normandie’ is an apple brandy made from the distillation of cider obtained from the very best varieties of apples and pears grown in the Coeur de Lion orchards. It has no oak ageing so is crystal clear and can be served neat, on the rocks, as a base for cocktails or as a refreshing after-dinner drink.
