The history of the Dolin spirits can be traced back to 1790, to the Savoy region of France, and the birth of Joseph Chavasse. An entrepreneur, and with access to the natural botanical gardens of the Massif de Chartreuse, Joseph Chavasse uncovered the secret of distillation and how to conserve all the aromas and flavours of the Alpine plants in the finished spirit. Chavasse built his first distillery in Chambery and in 1821 he created Chambery Vermouth.

Dolin is named after Chavasse’s son-in-law, Louis Ferdinand Dolin. After marrying into the family, he invested in the distillery, recognising the quality of the spirits being produced. He gradually built up the business, bringing international renown. Over 200 years later, the Dolin company continues to produce a range of delicately flavoured, high-quality spirits, from its base in the French Alps. The Chambery Vermouth is distilled using a blend of more than 30 different Alpine plants, flowers and spices, to create a modern style of aperitif that retains the unique character of the original recipe.
