Château Miraval is one of the oldest and most beautiful wine estates in Southern France, dating back to Roman times. Tucked away in an isolated valley in the heart of Provence, in a perfect location for viticulture, Miraval’s 32 hectares of vineyard are cultivated using organic practices and are fully certified organic. The estate lies on the borders of the Côtes de Provence and Coteaux Varois appellations. As well as the Coteaux Varois Rolle, for which Miraval is renowned, the estate produces a spicy Côtes de Provence red and a crisp, fragrant rosé that are among the appellation's finest examples.
Owner Tim Bove is dedicated to ensuring that every Miraval wine expresses the individual terroir of the vineyards and the vintage. Miraval’s special quality is party due to the late harvesting of the grapes that ensures ripeness and fully developed flavours. Attention to detail at every stage of the process is evident; the Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Cinsault and Rolle are harvested by hand, and yields are limited to no more than 40,000 hl/ha to ensure quality and concentration of flavour are at their optimum.
Long term fans of the wines will notice some new names appearing on the labels. The most common question currently is 'Why Pink FLoyd?' and the answer is simple - Miraval is home to one of the most fantastic recording studios in the world and several major artists have recorded there including The Cure, Sting and Pink Floyd. Hence the name 'Pink Floyd', in honour of Pink Floyd who recorded part of their album "The Wall" at Studio Miraval.
